HEART

Artist Guild & Theatre Company

HEART Artist Guild & Theatre Company is not a traditional isolated and non-stimulating sheltered workshop. We are a creative and adventurous family of artists, performers, and nature lovers!

HEART is a model for inclusive programs where nature adventure, arts, and theatre are used to connect adults (21+) with disabilities and their communities.

HEART members (aka; HEARTists) create visual and performance art, go on nature & city explorations, and have great fun while making meaningful contributions to society.

HEART strives to make creative and outdoor experiences accessible to everyone by providing opportunities for individuals to express themselves creatively and to become engaged in their community.  Inclusive and adaptive activities enhance personal and social skills and help differently abled people understand their place within the human race and on planet earth.  People in the larger community come to see for themselves that individuals with disabilities are much more alike than different from them.

The reality is that the majority of services for adults with disabilities in our country are isolating, uncreative, and unstimulating. People with disabilities and special needs don’t have the opportunity to express themselves creatively, are typically not engaged in their communities, and do not have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to society. This can make for an isolating, depressing, and lonely existence. You can help by helping HEART continue to be an inspirational model for other day programs.
