HEART is a nonprofit contemporary art studio providing visual arts, music, and performing arts mentorships and community engagement for adult artists with developmental disabilities who want to grow as artists.

At HEART, we have created a studio where artists are loved, supported, and celebrated for being their authentic selves.

We create together to enrich and transform our community.

 

Inclusion in any field takes great efforts and HEART is proud to be leading the way for inclusion in the Charleston arts community.

We are a creative and adventurous family of artists, performers, and all-around creative misfits. At HEART, we are artists, first and foremost. Since 2014, we have shaped opportunities for adults with disabilities to create compelling art, lasting relationships, and foster community support. Together we all gain a sense of accomplishment, acceptance, higher self-esteem, purpose and meaning through creative expression.
